      League News/Results - Week 5

I am very sorry for the late report however due to my public appearances that have sprung up as a result of sharing the limelight with Roger Federer in Tennis.com I've been rather busy!! (see attached)

The French have set the bar very high indeed!

The foundation for the evening was laid out by party organiser supremo Kim Jaske who got up out of her death bed purely to lay out table cloths, candle sticks, flowers and silver heating trays?? Then we found out why .... lashings of Beouf Bourginions cooked by Elisabeth (who was also close to death!) and Coq au Vin from Keith McCoubrey.

These amazing dishes coupled with the cheese, baguettes and copious amounts of wine everybody else brought, ensured that the combatants would be properly fueled throughout the night. Candy Freidlander brought up the rear with the fanciest chocolate cake I've ever seen! In all 10 Fontainebleau representatives were there.

Kim and Kornelia came up with the idea that marking in French would also produce bonus points so of course Jean-Pierre stepped in beautifully to earn Manchester bonus points.

However, he was outdone by some considerable distance when out of the bathroom Napolean appeared and promptly sat down in the markers chair to umpire beautifully???!!!

Thank you Genie and your magnificent team for showing us that the French don't always wave the white flag when faced with adversity!!

The tennis was superb all evening with Ballarat finally playing properly and leading at 4 matches to 2. However once the Mancs had run off the lovely food and embibed the perfect amount of alcohol, we managed to just pip the Aussies to the post and come out on top 5 - 4 ..... Hip hip hooray!!!

Bonus points were pretty much all taken by the French with Ivan securing 15 and the caterers another 15 plus 10 for their attendees. Manchester and Ballarat did earn bonuses as they all chipped in with fine wines and beers earning both of them a respectable 9 points plus 8 each for their team attendees.

So here we are ready for the French to take on the marauding Brits .........

........... Manchester ha ha ha ....... Manchester ha ha ha!!!
