International News:
- April 2008 World Masters Tournaments in New York: The USCTA has confirmed that the World Masters will be held at the New York Racquet Club from Thursday 3rd April to Sunday 13th April 2008.
They have further confirmed that they will be holding 70s events – both teams and knock out – with perhaps the first four days set aside for the teams events. Howard McMorris will be Chairman and organizer of the event. We expect, therefore, the Ted Cockram Trophy, Pete Bostwick Cup and Danby Trophy (70s, format still to be agreed) to take up the first few days, then 50s, 60s and 70s singles and doubles. Although it is still a year away, it is not too early to start planning. We will announce team captains/selection criteria in the reasonably near future.
- May 2008 World Championship: The Comité Français is delighted to announce that theWorld Championship Challenge will be held in May 2008 in France.
It will also be the first ever World Championship in France and the opportunity for Rob Fahey to beat Pierre Etchebaster’s record of World Championship’s in France. It is the first time a World Champion will have defended his title in Australia, the UK, the US and finally France.
